Dhaulagiri Expedition 2026 Latest Update

Current Status

Dhaulagiri expeditions in Nepal are underway but progressing more slowly compared to other peaks this season.

Teams have reached and established Base Camp, and initial preparations for acclimatization have begun. However, movement above base camp remains limited due to weather conditions.

Route Progress

Route development on Dhaulagiri is currently delayed.

  • No consistent route established above Base Camp
  • Limited load ferry activity toward higher camps
  • Fixing teams have not progressed significantly on upper sections

Unlike Annapurna and Everest, Dhaulagiri is still in an early operational phase.

Acclimatization Activity

Acclimatization has started but remains minimal:

  • Short carries above Base Camp
  • No confirmed rotations to higher camps
  • Most climbers are waiting for improved conditions

Teams are holding position rather than pushing upward.

Weather and Conditions

Current conditions on Dhaulagiri are unfavorable for climbing:

  • Continuous snowfall in recent days
  • Poor visibility and unstable weather patterns
  • High avalanche risk on approach slopes

These conditions are preventing safe route opening and delaying progress.

Achievements So Far

  • Base Camp established successfully
  • Expedition teams positioned and operational
  • Initial load carries completed

Progress remains limited compared to other Nepal expeditions.

What Has Not Happened Yet

  • No full acclimatization rotations completed
  • No established camps above Base Camp
  • No route fixing on upper mountain
  • No summit attempts

Outlook

The Dhaulagiri expedition is currently in a holding phase. Further progress depends entirely on weather improvement.

If conditions stabilize:

  • Route opening toward Camp 1 will begin
  • Rotations will follow immediately
  • Expedition timeline may shift later into the season

At present, Dhaulagiri is behind other peaks in Nepal for Spring 2026 progress.
